All who have accomplished great things have had a great aim, have fixed their gaze on a goal which was high, one which sometimes seemed impossible....

Happy 2nd Anniversary to me!

Well actually it was on Monday but we have been so busy! Josh and I cannot believe how fast the last year has gone by.

I have to give praise to my husband here. I love you so much Josh. These last 7 years have been amazing. You are such a great husband. I am so blessed. I am so proud of what we have accomplished and I couldn't be happier. Happy Anniversary Babe!

I'm done. No more mushy stuff, I promise ;)

Kitchen Re-Design

Here we go again. After a long discussion about the fridge an how unhappy we thought we would be with the placement of it, we decided to re-design the kitchen. We sat down with the design specialist and came up with a MUCH better plan for the kitchen. I am so glad we didn't go through with the last design. We would have regretted it. It would have closed in the kitchen and possibly caused our resale to be difficult.

So here is the new plan:

We moved the fridge to the front wall and moved the stove to te back wall. We decreased the counter space on the front wall but it's better than closing our kitchen in. We also took the pantry out. We wanted to be able to look directly through the kitchen and see the back door and walls giving the feeling that the kitchen is larger. I'm pleased.

Bathroom Progress

We have really made some progress on the bathroom. The vanity, linen cabinet and toilet are in. We FINALLY got the light fixture hung. This bathroom was clearly created for someone very short. The light fixture was extrememly low as is the shower head. We managed to move the light fixture but we are going to have to deal with the shower head. It's not bad but it's still a little low.

The paint color is Granite Gray by Glidden. We searched a few different brands of paint looking for the perfect gray. Not a blue gray, not a green gray, not a purple gray. Just gray. I stumbled upon this gray and when I saw the name I knew it was the perfect paint color for our house! It's exactly what we were looking for. I was worried about how cheap the paint was but I'm impressed. We rolled it on with 1 inch nap rollers and it's gorgeous. We also painted two of the bedrooms and I'm happy with the results.

We are almost done with the bathroom (and so far still way under budget for this room) and now we can finally start on the kitchen!

Day 6 of Construction

Today was our 6th day of construction and I am really amazed at the progress we are making...at least on the inside. We have started priming to get ready for the paint and we have even started the tile in the bathroom.

Josh and I want to move into the house in 3 weeks. This is a pretty lofty goal but hopefully we can make it happen. We won't move 100% because my Mom, Sister and Brother are flying in from WA in a little over three weeks and that house is not big enough for all 7 of us. So we'll be staying where we are until they leave. But we do plan to empty our stuff out my MIL's basement and our storage units and start decorating the house. All we have here is a night stand, dishes and our TV's. All of that can be moved later. It will be nice to free up the $150 we spend for the storage units too.

Here are some recent pictures of the house:

I am especially excited about the tile. The bathroom is finally starting to resemble a bathroom. We are going a little tile "crazy". We brought the tile to the ceiling around the tub and we are bringing it up 3 feet on the rest of the walls. We did a brick pattern for a more custom look.

Cabinets and Countertops, Check!

This could seriously be my favorite part. Other than picking paint colors. Josh and I are really going for a very Modern/Chic look for this house. The last two homes we really focused on what was Neutral and what we thought was less dramatic. We are stepping it up a couple notches on this one. Putting more of our personal tastes into it versus what we feel a bigger percentage potential buyers might like. When we go to sell we may regret it but gosh darn it we don't care right now ;)

Our Cabinets will be the basic White, American Classic brand cabinets at Home Depot with a raised inlay. Shown Here:

Our countertops are a bit edgy. We opted for a darker, laminate countertop in Basalt Slate. They are Black and Gray and look a lot like slate or colored rough concrete.
